Dear Esteemed Parents/Guardians,

Appreciation

We want to thank God Almighty for his generous mercies and grace over the students, parents and all college staff members. Sincere thanks to all our new and returning parents for believing in us; we equally thank you for your continuous support, prayers, understanding and encouragement. We made it to the mid-term because you and God stood by us. We are sincerely grateful and appreciate you all.

ACADEMICS AND CURRICULUM

READING PROGRAMME

In a bid to strengthen our academic standard and inbide in our students the culture of reading; the school re-introduce the early morning reading from 6:20am-7:20am to our SS 3 and JSS 3 students. The objective behind this is to prepare our students for the forth coming WAEC/NECO examination which is just 22 weeks from today.

The school encouraged students reading habit this term by re-introducing the Thursday morning DANBO reads and the 2:45 -3:15pm sustained silent reading. A reading time table was given to all students to serve as a reading guide. Parents should insist that students follow this reading time table during the break.

We have not only reviewed our curriculum but have merged our curriculum (made up of both Cambridge/Ontario curriculum) with that of the newly released curriculum by the Federal Government.

To strengthen English language and Mathematics in the school, the school re-introduce the “Easy Maths and English Language” classes every Monday from 4:30-6:00pm for every one our diagnostic test conducted at the beginning of the term deems fit to attend. The lesson is free.

MONDAY NIGHT EXAMS:-

The school administers examination in English language and Mathematics every Monday night from 8:00-9:30pm for our boarding students. This gesture is meant to strengthen and boost writing skills and logical thinking in our children. The examination have proved to be very successful.

HALF TERM RESULT

Students have been given their half term report sheet. Please request that you get the result issued after the closure of the open day.

HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENTS:

All staff members were directed to give holiday assignments to students; parents should please ensure that their wards keep themselves busy by doing all the assignments themselves. Some students were given projects to work on ; we would be grateful if they do them. If not they may loose some reasonable score.

EXTERNAL EXAMINATION

CHECK POINT:

The college gave a pre-check point examination to all students of which some selected few who passed the prestigious check point exams organized byCambridgeUniversityinLondonwere selected to write the full examination coming up in May.

CAMBRIDGE O’ LEVELS REGISTRATION

Parents are advised to take advantage of this opportunity to register their wards in SS3 for the Cambridge O’Levels examination that is on-going. See the school principal for more details.

The JAMB-UTME forms will be on sale before December, 2011. The school is encouraging SS 3 parents to register their wards. The school will be registering all SS3 students thus money to be paid by parents will include extra lesson/coaching fees, administrative fees and registration fees.

A letter will be issued to all SS3 students to their parents as soon as we get notification of the registration. It is also important to inform our esteemed parents that despite the great failure in the exams last year; 90.3% of our students that we registered for the examination scored above 200 marks. We also took responsibility of taking them to their examination venues.

SAT/TOEFL EXAMS:

SAT means Scholastic Aptitude Test. It’s an International examination organized for students who would love to school abroad and also desire to get scholarship. In time past, most of our students have been getting scholarship even last year, we had an outstanding result. Interested parents should endeavour to register their wards for the lessons preparing them for this examination. A pre-SAT examination was given to all our SS1-SS3 students on the 22/10/2011 to further boost their aptitude and expose them to what this examination is all about.

TOEFL on the other hand is Test of English as Foreign Language. Any student wishing to school abroad should write this examination. It is written every month but we prefer only our SS3 students to write it in April. The same goes for SAT. Lessons for this examination are on-going. We have also procured state of the earth facilities to enhance students aptitude for these exams. Please take advantage of this.

WAEC

Registration for the 2012 examination is on going. We solicit/covet the prayers and encouragement of parents from the home front. Parents should use this mid-term break to encourage and talk to all our SS3/JSS3 students to be more studious and focused. As a school we have procured facilities like the E-tutor and past question papers to ensure that a 100% (A1-C6) pass is recorded by all students in the examination.

EXTRA LESSONS:

Parents are also encouraged to pay the fees for their wards attending the student “At Risk” lessons. As a school, we are putting them through one -on -one to ensure that the missing gap in terms of the student learning aptitude is covered.

Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi dies in sirte on 20th October 2011, in reaction, former Libyan minister of immigration said “it took too many young lives for him to go”. Libyans, especially the young sacrificed greatly towards the goal of bringing down the one man who said he was beyond redemption. Now that he has been killed, but with a host of Gaddafi’s loyalist still at large with weapons that cannot be accounted for in their possession, can Libyans truly exclaim ‘Uhuru’ without looking over their shoulders? Is it possible that the supposed peace could still be dangerous? It is true that Gaddafi’s death marks the end of despotism in Libya but did he have to die such an ignominious death? Which would you say is better for Gaddafi to have died the way he did or for him to have stood trial? Does this ignominious death of a tyrant mark the end of NATO mission in Libya?

Election is scheduled to hold in eight months, is it viable? So many questions you would say but these cannot rule out the fact that Libyans are consistent and determined, they deserve to leave a sign of relief as we herald the rebirth of anew Libya.

The recent outbreak of sectarian killings in jos, no doubt portends a very grave to national security & democracy as it is clear that powerful military cohorts are behind the wicked inhuman actions, what unsettles me most is the innocent woman and children who are turned into victims in a matter of seconds, it was very alarming to see how buildings (schools, churches etc) were torn down and even a Brigadier (General Hassan Umaru) shot during the course of the crisis. This crisis is a signal to the government not to overtake those who seek to undermine the fragiledemocracy and supremacy of Nigeria. Also the federal Government and the police should wake up and bring these perpetrators to book in order to put an end to this crisis, or who else can save us from this endless cruelty?
Libya’s unrest has been on for a very long time. Libyans want a change in government but the leader Gaddafi has been ruling Libya for over 42yrs and he is still not satisfied, he is bent on staying in power and this has led to the loss of so many lives. NATO agencies have intervened in the Libyan unrest but this has led to the loss of more lives and it still seems the leader does not want to step down. There has been many reactions to this crisis with some of the lawmakers calling on Obam’s administration to re-impose U.S sanctions that were lifted during the Bush era while some are calling on the UN to stop this crisis. It is obvious that Gaddafi won’t step down unless strong measures are taken to make him step down. This call on the NATO agencies to re-strategize their plans and to do it fast or more lives would be lost. There is indeed a great challenge ahead. What is your opinion on Libya’s unrest.
The death of the Late President Umar Musa Yar’adua on the 5th May, 2010 was an irreparable and irreplaceable loss to the nation. While the Late President Yar’adua presided over the affairs of this nation he demonstrated deep passion and love for the country and expressed a fervent wish to see Nigeria make giant leaps from its current lowly standing to become the 20th most developed economy in the world by the year 2020. In the interim, the Yar’adua administration packaged the seven-point agenda covering the following areas: Power supply Food security and agriculture Wealth creation and employment Mass transportation Security Land reform and the Niger Delta Yar’adua’s 30 months in power also brought about relative peace in the country especially on the political front. Yar’adua was also remembered by his spirited efforts to restore the power sector, service reforms as well as electoral reforms. Perhaps due to the indisposition that shadowed much of his time in office his economic agenda was unable to unfold fully and very little was achieved on the seven point agenda.
